Although once the gateway for 12 million immigrants to enter America, there are parts of Ellis Island that now lay hidden in debris and neglect. Island is a series of photographs taken in 2008 which explores a journey through one of the abandoned buildings that still stands on the island. Functioning as documentary images of a place, Island also asks the past to become the canvas for new fictions.
