About

Born in the Soviet Union, raised in Queens, NY, currently based in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.

Captivated early on by the experimental film tradition, with Maya Deren as my North Star, I’ve gone from experimental doc, to short form poetry films, to experimental narrative, melodrama, photographs, writing, and curating. In the last few years I’ve embraced a more traditional narrative filmmaking, bringing to it an experimental film sensibility in style, cutting, and general approach. I work a day job as a video editor and lean strongly on cutting choices to express thematic concerns, evoke mood, and translate emotional experience.

Whether through words, images, or films, I am driven by a quest to capture ‘the luminous dark,’ the sense of dread that is the flip coin of wonder. I believe film specifically, with its simultaneous ephemerality and ability to arrest time, has within it the capacity for transformative spiritual experiences, and the yearning to touch those realms is hard-wired into our psyches.

No desire, no world.
